Epic Theatre Company presents the Rhode Island Premiere of a riotously funny and deeply impactful story about pushing the boundaries of family, communication, and identity.
Billy was born deaf into a family of British academics who sometimes love to argue more than they love each other. He's spent his entire life trying to keep up with them by reading their lips so that he wouldn't have to feel different. Then he meets a girl who is losing her hearing, and as their relationship grows stronger, Billy's connections to his family begin to break down.
TJ Curran directs a cast of local actors including Geoff White, Carol Schlink, CT Larsen, Blanche Case, Stephanie Traversa, and Joseph Ausanio as Billy.
This production will be produced with help fro the Rhode Island School for the Deaf. Epic is thrilled to be able to collaborate with this amazing institution to bring this brilliant play to audiences in Rhode Island.
Nina Raines' "Tribes" is a beautiful story about family, identity, and what we do for the people we love.
*This play features mature content and is not recommended for anyone under seventeen years of age.
