Sun Dried Alibi
The Sun Dried Alibi started playing together in college. The boys (Nick Molak, guitar, and Brendan Tompkins, drums) were the core of The Stitch, a band born in the basement of their dorm. Liz was a shower singer until a mutual friend suggested to The Stitch that they let her sit in sometime. Luis recently hooked up with the band after answering an ad the band had posted while they were searching for a bass player. Seeing The Sun Dried Alibi live is another chance at revival, another chance at letting music bring you back to where you want to be... guitar and drum solos like bursts of machine gun fire, the bass driving the train down the track and Liz an instrument herself, using her voice to push the music along, making every song - original or cover- seem like it was written just for her.
Royal Jelly is a Providence-based
collaborative group of longtime friends that mixes elements from an eclectic
variety of sounds to create original music. Fronted by two gifted female
singer-songwriters, Royal Jelly's ability to engage creativity without the
shackles of genre produces a sound that is one of a kind, emotional, and
undeniably groovy.
Eric French & Mr. Hyde is a dual, full-length profile of two musical voices. Unapologetic rock and blues bombast is set off by an introspective acoustic streak. An explosive trio in the tradition of The Experience, The Cream, and The Police is balanced by a lone singer with an acoustic guitar. The self-titled debut album is set for release on 10-10-10.
Jenny White is no stranger to the Rhode Island music scene. In high school she performed at open mic nights around the state and studied with local Jazz greats like Shawnn Monteiro and Rebecca Parris. In 2009, Jenny started on the open mic scene in Rhode Island. In that year she has been featured at the Greenwich Hotel, Dimare, Everyman Bistro, 2 Jerks pub, and Ben and Jerry's on Thayer.
Jenny writes her own music and finds the process very cathartic. Patrons at her shows have described her as having a "sensitivity" about the way she performes, and capturing her "heart" in her music. Jenny very much wants to make the type of music you take with you and that becomes a part of your life the way great music has become a part of hers.
Rick Drost began singing with a Kingston Trio-style group in high school, continued in a small folk group in college, then a glee club and then an opera chorus. He started writing and singing around coffeehouses in DC and New England in the 70s, finally settling in Cambridge, MA, where he was a member of the folk-rock group Parts and Labor. He started writing again in 2004 and is working on a sequel to his first album, Twelve Dared Dreams (cdbaby). He tries to arrange to sing out at least once a week, wherever he goes.
5th Elament Kal Champlain aka 5th Elament is a femcee, spoken word artist, and hip hop educator. Rocking mics for over 12 years, she has yet to leave a crowd who was not positively affected after what many have come to know as the 5th Elament experience.
Although rooted in hip hop, 5th Elament's music has an eclectic feel that has appealed to audiences outside of hip hop as well, making her universal. This artist leaves all with hope, love, head nods, and a good time.
Wal's entertainment career started at 5 years old when he appeared on Bozo's Bigtop as Bozo's assistant "Butch". He was a hit! His success on Bozo led to appearances on Willie Whistle, The Rex Trailer Show and Mr. Bubble's commercials (he was the kid in the tub!). But success was fleeting. While Working long hours taping the show Shenanigans, (a Bozo rip off) Wal caught a bad cold. This led to a cough syrup addiction which caused him to lose his gig on Bozo. They said he had lost his youthful exuberance. Wal was devastated. But his management had heard about a new show, Sesame Street, that could salvage Wal's career. But they had already heard about the habit and passed. So there he was; doped, broke and dropped, washed up at ten!
But Wal checked into a clinic and turned his life around. His music has carried him through tough times and he has become a powerful performer and songwriter. When he turns it up, he's back on the Bigtop!
