Art Classes for Children

TUESDAY ART CLASSES for CHILDREN

Session 4: Apr 27^th ~ June 15^th

Preschool Clay ~ Samantha Sheehan ~ Ages 4~6

$125 ~ Tuesdays 2~3pm

Preschoolers learn how to work with clay,

through simple projects like making pinch

pots, coil pots and wind chimes that will be

fired and glazed to last forever.

Backyard Clay ~ Samantha Sheehan ~ Ages 5~9

For kids who love getting their hands dirty,

this class is an invitation to take mud and

make magic. Participants will make bugs, snakes

and trees, plus a dog house and a dog bowl!

A great class for introducing the creative child

to the world of painting. Several mediums, including

watercolor and acrylic will be explored.

WEDNESDAY ART CLASSES for CHILDREN

Take everything you know about clay and turn it

sideways! In this class, we will use basic clay building

and glazing skills while incorporating new techniques

including clay extruding, slab rolling and scrafitto to

create exciting new projects like clay instruments,

mosaics and more.

Fundamentals of Drawing ~ Beth Plante ~ Ages 7~14

A true beginner class. Students will learn all the basic

skills necessary, practicing techniques such as form,

shading line and perspective, all geared toward making

drawings more lively.

Intermediate Pottery Wheel Throwing for Children ~ Jen Fox

Ages 8 & up

Build on previously learned skills in wheel throwing.

Must have taken at least one wheel throwing class

to be eligible.

Join in on the fun~filled ancient craft of turning a ball

of clay into functional pottery and learn basic skills

involved in wheel throwing.

The Art of Makeup ~ a Cosmetics Starter~ Katie Bouchard

Culminating with a professional photo shoot, students

will learn techniques to create looks for day and evening,

glamour, natural, fantasy, as well as proper sanitation

and use of tools. Each student will receive a professional

photo of their model. Some makeup will be provided,

and a shopping list for additional supplies will be provided

in the first class.

MONDAY DANCE CLASSES for CHILDREN & ADULTS

Kinetic Kids ~ Nicole Laliberté

 A wonderful way to introduce your little one to dance! 

He wont stop moving? This is the class for him!  Basic

stretching and warm~ups are designed to appeal to the

sense of imagination and involve student input. 

Next, creative movement through space allows your child

 to express herself individually, while developing awareness

of patterns, shape, rhythm and dynamic.  Across the floor

exercises combine locomotor movements like running, s

kipping, and galloping with leaps and turns, greatly increasing

coordination and self~confidence.

What is Dance, Anyway?

$125 ~ Mondays 5~6pm ~ Ages 13 & up

Why is ballet in French? How is dance intertwined with

cultural identity? Modern dance. Is that like Hip Hop?

What am I supposed to be looking for? Is that a good

dance? What words do I use to describe THAT? How do

they do that? Answer these questions and more through

lectures, readings, video viewings, discussions, and actual

movement experiences.  A great way to get your feet wet!

Artists Exchange now offers an open clay studio!

Participants must have previous experience in a clay studio, as no instruction will be offered during this time.

Open studio participants will have access to the studio on Monday evenings from 7-9pm.

Fee includes use of all Artists Exchange equipment including five pottery wheels, canvas covered tables, extruder and clay tools. Firing fees charged separately. Supplies (clay, glazes, etc.) can be purchased separately through Artists Exchange.
